Our route starts on a large parking lot under the Harmanecká jaskyňa Cave at the Čierna ovca restaurant. To this place either we can climb from the Banská Bystrica city along the 1st class road towards the city of Martin or we can use the cycle-bus to the Malý Šturec pass, which has its stop at the parking lot at the Čierna ovca restaurant. The cycle-bus leaves from the Strieborné námestie Square in Banská Bystrica city every Saturday, Sunday or public holiday at 7:30 am at the cave is about at 8:10 am.
From this parking lot we continue by the 1st class road towards the Martin city, after 500 m we turn right from the main road towards the forest road. Then we follow the sign-posts leading to the Kráľova Studňa Mountain Hotel, along the forest asphalt road, which here and there becomes gravel and it is marked as a green tourist trail. This way we climb about 14 km (of which the last 4 km is very slight ascending).
Once you have in sight the Kráľova Studňa Mountain Hotel, about 200 m from it, according to the sign-post, we turn right onto the yellow tourist trail towards the Bystrická dolina Valley (of course, we cannot miss the opportunity to have a snack in the mountain hotel; http://www.kralovastudna.com). We continue along the yellow tourist trail for about 3 km by descending along a gravel road, where dangerous rocks can be here and there. Then we join the asphalt road by which we descend along the whole Bystrická dolina Valley to the village of Dolný Harmanec.
A few meters from the village of Dolný Harmanec there is a turn to the right to the technical monument – the Rakytovo wooden water trough, which is definitely worth a visit. (it is a 2 min ride, http://www.lesybb.sk/?mid=11).
We continue around the seat of the Municipal Forest Banská Bystrica Administration to the main road, where we turn right towards the Martin city and after approx. 1,5 km climb, we get to the parking lot under Harmanecká jaskyňa Cave. If we turn left on the main road, after 12 km drive, we return to the Banská Bystrica city.
