Our route starts on a large parking lot under the Harmanecká jaskyňa Cave at the Čierna ovca restaurant. To this place we can either climb from Banská Bystrica city by the 1st class road towards Martin city or use the services of the cycle bus to Malý Šturec pass, which has its stop at this parking lot. The cycle bus leaves from the Strieborné námestie Square in Banská Bystrica city every Saturday, Sunday or public holiday at 7:30 am and at the cave is about at 8:10.
From this parking lot, we continue along the 1st class road towards Martin city, after 200 m we turn left from the main road towards the forest. We come around the forest barrier and follow the new asphalt forest path through the forest for about 4 km. After four kilometers the asphalt road continues to the right (but it is a dead end), so we turn left onto the gravel forest road and follow the blue tourist trail to the “Ištvánka” locality for another 1.5 km. From there we descend to the village of Kordíky with a nice forest descent.
There, at the first crossroads, we turn sharply to the left and continue along the yellow tourist trail, which leads us along a forest asphalt road with a 6 km long descent to Harmanec village. Then we either turn left and on the 1st class road we return to the parking lot at the Harmanecká jaskyňa Cave, where our route started, or we turn right and return through the Uľanka and Jakub settlements to Banská Bystrica city.
